Egyptians fearing they’ll be shot in the clashes write their names on their arms

The situation in Egypt is so dire, some people have taken to writing their names on their forearms in case they are killed or severely wounded.

A deep scan of Twitter found photos of forearms, signed in ink, as people apparently accept the stark reality they could be shot during clashes between Islamists and the police or for defying the nighttime curfew imposed by the military-backed government.

As we reported earlier, the Muslim Brotherhood has been keeping handwritten lists of names of those who have died, ostensibly to be able to provide family members with some information about their missing loved one.

The stark and unsettling reality is that writing one’s name on his or her forearm might make the job of whomever collects the body—government official, police or political factions—a little easier.
